Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park and coffee tour
Upon your arrival, you will be picked up by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. Before you make your way to the Park you will have a stopover at the Huye women’s Coffee cooperative which will take you on a 2 hour’s safari at the coffee plantation understanding more about the coffee-making process from harvesting, sorting, and cleaning until it is processed. It should be noted that Rwanda has some of the world’s best coffee that you can get to taste a cup of at the end of your coffee tour. During your coffee tour will also get to watch how coffee has improved the livelihoods of the neighboring communities through women empowerment for an amazing safari experience. After the safari experience, make your way to the park and check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk.
Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. To find them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos. You will then return to your hotel to freshen up, have lunch check out, and later in the afternoon participate in After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you, and thereafter connect to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Rise up early and have breakfast as you get ready to embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park with lunch en route, arriving at Ruhengeri in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at dinner and overnight will be at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and cultural tour
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel with your packed lunch, your guide for the safari will pick you up and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park where you will take part in the memorable golden monkey trekking safari in Rwanda. At the park entrance, you will take part in the briefing session of the memorable activity which is the rules and the regulations to follow for an amazing time during the activity. During the transfer to the habituated golden monkey troop, you will see a number of primate species like dent’s monkey, vervet monkey, and the black and white colobus monkeys among other monkey species swinging in the tree branches as you get to the habituated golden monkey troop, you will have the chance to see a number of rewarding aspects of the golden monkeys observing a number of features that you will find fascinating about the primates, for instance, their feeding patterns, the co-existence with one another among other memorable aspects. After the safari experience you will head back to your hotel have lunch and later in the afternoon participate in the ibyi’wacu cultural tour to help you get an insight into the culture of the people of Rwanda through their food, dance and other cultural practices.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park and Dian Fossey Museum
As early as 6 am, you will be expected to be up for breakfast and ready to set off for the trek. Our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trekking can take about 2 hours to half a day as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7-meter distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas.
After the trek, you will have lunch and be taken back to your hotel as the night before to relax and reminisce on the experience. You can also embark on the iby’iwacu cultural village tour which will give you an insight into the people of Rwanda by visiting the local community which will give you the chance to observe their unique cultural values through dance, food, and many other features that you will get to observe when you participate in the activity. After the experience,e you will head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight will be at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge
DAY 5: Transfer back to Kigali
Enjoy breakfast at leisure and transfer back to Kigali. You will be dropped at the hotel as advised or you will be dropped off at Kigali airport for your scheduled flight back home.
