Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
At an agreed location in Kigali City, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to Akagera national park. Before you embark on your way to the park you will participate in the Kigali city tour which will lead you the genocide memorial museum which will give you the chance to understand more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide, you can visit the Kimironko market and many other rewarding sites for a memorable safari experience. After they experience, you will make your way to the park checking in your hotel for dinner Dinner and overnight at Karenge bush Camp (budget) Akagera game lodge (mid-range)
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise and night game drive
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by your guide who will transfer you to the park plains to participate in the morning game drives which will give you the chance to observe a number animal species like the early risers in the wild grazing within the park’s plains. After the morning game drive, you will head to your hotel for relaxation and later in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Day 3: Early morning game drive and evening game drive
Rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to connect with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing at your lodge and later in the evening you will meet up with your guide and embark on an evening game drive in the park. Day 4: Full day game drive and a night game drive
Have breakfast at your lodge in the morning and head out for a behind the scenes tour in Akagera national park. Get on the management of the park for additional insights into Akagera park, where you will meet employees at the park while learning about exciting conservation developments in Akagera. This activity takes 1½ hours. Return back to your lodge for lunch. After the safari experience, head back to your lodge for lunch and then participate in the game drive to watch the different attractions. you will make your way to take part in the night game drive which will help you explore more about the park at night. You will get to see how the park comes to life with the use of spot lights which will give you clear views of the herbivores like the elephants, buffaloes, impalas and many others hiding in their spots, you will get to watch the night birds like the night jars, and the carnivores like the lions, hyenas, leopards hunting for their prey for dinner. After the rewarding experience, head back to your hotel for overnight stay

Day 5: hot air balloon, community tour and departure
The hot air balloon safari in Akagera National Park can either be carried out in the morning or the afternoon so depending on your preference, you can choose one that fits your interest. On reaching the park, you will set off to the Kayitaba point in Akagera National Park, where the hot air balloon safaris take off from. The activity starts as early as 5am but its adjustable depending on the sunrise time. At the point you will be taken through the rules and regulations for the activity, the instructions to follow as you prepare for the safari. After the preparations embark on the experience as you enter the basket and begin your flight. during the experience enjoy the aerial view of the park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the different herbivores grazing within the plains, you will enjoy the calmness of the park as you enjoy the beautiful views of the sunrise over lake Ihema. After the hot air balloon safari which ends early in the morning. Day 6: transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park & Coffee tour.
Upon your arrival, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe forest National park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. Before you make your way to the Park you will have a stopover at the Huye women’s coffee Cooperative which will take you on a 2 hour’s safari at the coffee plantation understanding more about the coffee making process from harvesting, sorting, cleaning until it is processed. You will also get to watch how coffee has improved the livelihoods of the neighboring communities through women empowerment for an amazing safari experience. After the safari experience, make your way to the park and check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Dinner and overnight at Gisakura visitor center
Day 7 : Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk.
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. On finding them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos. You will then return to your hotel to freshen up, have lunch then check out and later in the afternoon participate in After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you there after connect to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure.
Day 8: Transfer back to Kigali
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on your journey back to Kigali city where if time allows, you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial museum and later transfer to the airport for your onward flight or dropped at your hotel in Kigali.
