Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL, TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK AND COFFEE TOUR
you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. Before you make your way to the Park you will have a stopover at the Huye Women’s Coffee Cooperative which will take you on a 2 hour’s safari at the coffee plantation understanding more about the coffee-making process from harvesting, sorting, and cleaning until it is processed. You will also get to watch how coffee has improved the livelihoods of the neighboring communities through women’s empowerment for an amazing safari experience. After the safari experience, make your way to the park and check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel.
DAY 2: BIGUGU TRAIL AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
Enjoy breakfast and, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Bigugu trail leads to the highest peak in the park which is Bigugu peak before you reach the peak, you will see a number of chimpanzees on the lower slopes of mountain Bigugu and also have magnificent views of a number of attractions like a number of wild animals like bushbucks, and so many more. While carrying out the hike on the Bigugu trail, you will also come across the Rwanda Development Board radio station which monitors the activities in the park to avoid poaching in the park. Through the trail after the Rwanda Development Board radio station you will proceed to Bigugu Peak the highest point in Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will have exceptional views for instance you will have the chance to see Lake Kivu, the Banda village and so many more.
